FAQs

Here are some answers to questions we sometimes get:

Are these imported? I want an American product!

Yes. These kits are made of parts imported from around the world. Our goal is to make guitar building accessible to the greatest number of builders, by keeping the kits priced from $125 to $250.

American made parts are great, and there are several companies selling those items. You will spend $750-1500 for a kit of American made parts. So when you see prices under $300, its an import.

I just got my ST/TL/PB kit and there is a gouge in the middle of the body!

That can look alarming. What you are seeing is the hole drilled for the ground wire. It comes out under the bridge by design. As you get to building it will all make sense.

Do the instructions show me how to apply a finish?

No. There are so many materials, styles, and techniques, we couldn't imagine telling you one way to get the job done. There are lots of experts and tools online to get the finish you want.

How is the quality of the hardware? Do I need to upgrade it?

The hardware is comparable to other import guitars you might find at the guitar shop- similar to what you'd see on a Squier or Epiphone. Upgrading is totally up to you. Many players are fine with the stock hardware, while others spend more on upgrades than they did for the kit. It all depends on what you want, and what you value.

How many days/weeks does it take for my guitar to arrive?

At this time we ship all of the kits from our warehouse in Salt Lake City, Utah. Shipping to other US locations is generally 2-5 business days. International shipping varies by location, generally 7-21 days.
